Incoming Data Analyst at Schneider Electric
What are you doing right now?
I am a recent graduate with B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Apart from working towards my graduate school application, I am also currently researching the application of Generative Adversarial Networks in ‘Deepfakes’ and the detection of forgery in human faces.
Area of interest
Since my second year of college, I have been interested in signal processing, particularly image processing. Since I began my journey in machine learning, I have been researching on computer vision applications.
Why did you first sign up with Univ.AI?
I joined Univ.AI’s foundation in AI and ML course in 2018 after a friend recommended it. I have always been interested in statistics and mathematics and once I realized I could further my understanding of statistics, I decided to take a course on ML. Upon going to their website and seeing their faculty and course structure, I knew I had to take this opportunity and make the best out of it.
What role has Univ.AI played in your learning journey in Data Science and AI?
When I joined this course,I was a complete beginner in the field. Under the guidance of these reputed professors, I was motivated to further my interest in image processing and pursued my exploratory projects in computer vision. Also, the course provided me with the skills required to pick up new ML concepts a lot faster.
If you had to share just one thing that you learned in the course, what would it be?
Don’t be too intimidated by a problem. By breaking it down, you’ll find that it's a lot easier than you thought it was. I also learned that surrounding yourself with positive people helps one grow.
What surprised you about the course?
I was astonished by the amount of information I amassed in such a short duration.
Have you seen new opportunities as a result of the course? Do you feel better equipped for new opportunities?
Taking this course ended up shaping the next steps I took in academia. I was able to dive deeper into topics I had previously found interesting and apply my new-found knowledge to them.
What advice would you give to a new Univ.AI student?
Take advantage of the community of like-minded individuals and professors. I have made some good friends from this course who continue to motivate and inspire me.
Any final thoughts or recommendations about the course?
Univ.AI’s course is not something you find very often. You get the opportunity to interact with some brilliant professors, get hands-on practical experience, and further your academic pursuits.
